Karenanya generic structure juga sama seperti teks naratif, yaitu orientation, complication, dan resolution.

Fractured story adalah cerita gubahan, cerita yang dimodifikasi unsur-unsurya sehingga menghasilkan cerita baru sebagi hasil dari sudutpanndang beda terhadap sebuha cerita yang sudah dikinal. Teks fractured story ini menjadi salah satu materi pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di kelas 10 atau fase E, dan biasanya diberikan pada semester ke 2. Pemberian materi cerita gubahan dalam Bahasa Inggris ini telah diterapakan sejak kurikulum Merdeka dipakai di sekolah sekolah SMA, MA, dan SMK.
